The enemy’s G9 Sports site: The Flames Begin

Do not adjust your computer screens. The Calgary Flames are now ahead of the Blackhawks in the Western Conference. If I were a bandwagon fan and hadn’t jumped off yet, I’d be tumbling to the ground and running to the warm embrace of baseball or basketball right now. Fortunately for the rest of us, the Western Conference is a completely hot mess, and only one point separates the Blackhawks from the Flames. Two points tonight would move them into a tie for 8th with Los Angeles.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The Blackhawks are coming off of a terrible loss in Vancouver. While by all accounts it was poorly-officiated, the Blackhawks also did not capitalize on the few chances they did have on the power play to even up the score. This has to change tonight if the Blackhawks have any chance of winning. Let’s not forget that the last time the Blackhawks were in Calgary, it was a nasty 7-2 loss in which Jarome Iginla scored a hat trick on Marty Turco. Or, better yet, let’s forget that. Because it was gross. In any case, the Blackhawks need to wrap this up in regulation to put the Flames behind us again for the time being.
