I apologize for not getting a pregame preview up today, but I forgot that I was going to the Season Ticketholder Roadwatch at the United Center today. Totally slipped my mind. My bad, folks.
But, hey, what a better place to witness what turned out to be a great game, right? Sure, the first period sucked, but damn if those last two periods weren’t golden. Especially the second period. Four goals, chasing off the goalie… so wonderful. A hard-fought win — probably the most-earned win this entire season.
Two points for you, Blackhawks! You go, Blackhawks! And none for the Blues — bye!
Captain Force of Nature watch: The Blackhawks were down 2-0 in the first period. Then Toews made a speech during the first intermission, and suddenly they go on a four-goal spree in the second period. Toews himself scored on a power play to put the Blackhawks up 4-2. He’s now had seven multi-point games out of eleven. If that’s not proof that he’s a force of nature, then I don’t know what is.
Duncan Keith plus/minus rating watch: Even. Also, can we point out this amazing save he made? Because it was pretty spectacular.
Coach Q face color watch: Hopefully, he’s at a nice healthy peach by now and can come back soon. I adore Mike Haviland and all, but he’s way too calm for a face color watch.
Post-game quotes from @TramyersCSN:
Toews: “The leaders in the locker room held the rest of the team accountable and everyone stepped up in the second period.”
Haviland on Stalberg goal: “It got us going for sure. It settled us down.”
Haviland: “I think it was more for us to realize that we can’t get too high (after wins) and that we have to go back to work.”
Bonus Video: Marty Turco trolling a Blues player. Classic.
