Post-Game Review: Blackhawks @ Nashville Predators

Blackhawks defeat the Nashville Predators 3-0.

What is this feeling? A three-game win streak? It’s been so long!

The Blackhawks had to come out and make a statement and, boy, did they ever make one. This was probably the strongest defensive game the Blackhawks have played all season. Hossa decided to show up on the scoreboard after his heterosexual life partner Tomas Kopecky scored a goal while I wasn’t watching (I haven’t watched Kopecky score a goal once this season — they’re like Bigfoot, as far as I’m concerned). Patrick Sharp earned his 300th (and 301st) point tonight, one on an empty-netter to seal the game.

The Blackhawks are now in 7th place in the conference and 2nd in the division. Back in the playoff race, baby!

And all this despite winning only 41% of their faceoffs. Whatever — I’ll take it!

Captain Force of Nature watch: Despite winning only 41% (7-17) of his faceoffs, Toews got a secondary assist on the first goal. Another game, another point for Captain Serious. Ho-hum.

Duncan Keith plus/minus rating watch: +2. Also, his interview after the game has endeared him to me even more. Why so awesome, Duncan?

Coach Q face color watch: Piggy Pink, the color of a happy coach. Welcome back, Q!

Post-game quotes from @TramyersCSN:

Crawford: “It seems like every time I was trying to fight through screens our guys came up with big blocks.”

Crawford, again: “It seemed like we were playing smart, not forcing anything against these guys.”

Post-game videos: Corey Crawford, Joel Quenneville, Duncan Keith, Marian Hossa

Finally, I leave you with this, the Niklas Hjalmarsson bobblehead, which the Rockford IceHogs will give away on Saturday, March 19th:

TEARS. OF. LAUGHTER.

Well, Hjalmarsson does have a slightly ridiculous mouth.

Not nearly as ridiculous as the bobblehead, mind you. But still.
