You see the goalie in the picture above? Yeah, that’s Eddie Lack. I’ve only been following Lack a little over a year, but man has he just kept getting better and better. Of course, Wednesday’s game against Abbotsford was no exception to this kid’s brilliance. Eddie Lack posted 29 saves to lead the Wolves to a 5-0 victory and earned himself his second shutout of the season.
Wednesday, January 25th vs Abbotsford — The Chicago Wolves absolutely dominated the Heat with a similar start as their previous game, propelling them to a 5-0 victory in Abbotsford.
Steve Reinprecht scored the game’s first two goals for the second night in a row while Jordan Schroeder (G & A), Bill Sweatt (G & A), and Anton Rodin (2A) also had two-point nights. Reinprecht opened scoring for the second night in a row against the Heat on a play that was assisted by Mancari and Rodin. Two minutes later, Reinprecht scored again on a shorthanded breakaway. Heat goaltender Danny Taylor stopped the first shot, but Reinprecht got the rebound over his shoulder for a 2-0 lead at 6:33 in the first period. Danny Taylor was then replaced by Abbotsfort backup goalie Joni Ortio. The Wolves pushed forward even further on a play by Sweatt and Haydar that propelled the Wolves to a 3-0 lead at the 12:57 mark of the first period. The second period brought no good news for the Heat as the Wolves scored yet again to bring them to a 4-0 advantage over the Heat. Stefan Schneider produced his third goal of the season in his home province at 13:00 of the third period thanks to a setup by Mike Duco.
– Sweatt got his 10th goal of the season
– Shots were 28-29 in Abbotsford’s favor
– Chicago was 1 for 3 on the powerplay; Abbotsford was 0 for 4
– Eddie Lack posted 29 saves, Taylor posted 3 saves, and Ortio posted 20 saves
