Duncan Keith was suspended for five games for this hit on Daniel Sedin during the first period of the Blackhawks’ game against the Vancouver Canucks on March 21:
According to Brendan Shanahan, “Keith’s hit was dangerous, reckless and caused injury. We’ve also taken into consideration Keith’s supplemental discipline record, which includes no suspensions and one fine over seven NHL seasons.” For the entire explanation of the suspension, click here.
Unlike some Blackhawks fans, I’m okay with the length of the suspension. It was a stupid play, and hey — at least he gets to come back before the end of the season.
