It’s Blackhawks Locker Clean-out Day

And so, the Blackhawks begin their summer vacation early again this year.

But not before facing the media.

Joel Quenneville on…

Assessing all areas: “The one thing is you got a nice core here — you got a nice group of guys here, and that gives you a chance every year — a chance to win a championship.”
Competitive playoffs: “Everyone wants to find a way to get done.”
Complementing the core: “I think team chemistry is something, going forward, should be a concern.”
Goaltending: “In Corey’s case, we expect him to get on that track where’s he’s going to get better.”
Need for size and toughness: “Our D — they move the puck well.”
Areas of need (such as a second-line center): “Strength in the middle is important.”
The power play: “This year from the outset, it struggled all year.”

Stan Bowman on…

Rockford prospects: “We saw the guys that emerged this year actually came up and played with us.”
Depth at center: “There’s been a lot of talk about that position. Not sure why there’s been so much.”
The power play: “The results speak for themselves. A huge disappointment this year. It’s unacceptable to have the caliber of players we do to not have it work.”
Re-signing Oduya: “Johnny played great for us down the stretch.”
Hossa’s status: “It’s too hard to predict the recovery time on these things.”
Crawford and the defense: “Our goaltending in general was not our strength this year.”
Unrestricted free agents: “We’re not going to bring everybody back.”
Offseason priorities: “We’re still in the assessment phase.”
