The IceHogs officially announced this morning that the team has signed former Hog Martin St. Pierre to a one year AHL contract.
The 5-foot-9, 187 pound centerman spent the 2011-12 season with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons. He led the team in scoring with 64 points (11G, 53A) in 73 games. He was ten points ahead of the Falcons’ second leading scorer, Alexandre Giroux, who put up 54 points.
St. Pierre spent the 2007-08 season in Rockford and put up some large numbers: 21 goals and 67 assists for a total of 88 points in 69 games. He also racked up a plus/minus rating of +3 and 80 penalty minutes that season. In addition to those numbers, in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games with the IceHogs, he tallied 14 points ( 2G, 12A).
The Ontario native’s highest point-producing season came in 2006-07 with the Norfolk Admirals when he scored 27 goals and had 72 assists for 99 points. He was also a +15 and recorded 100 penalty minutes.
