If you saw Puck Daddy’s post earlier this afternoon, your eyes are still probably stinging from the revelation that the Rockford IceHogs are holding a Los IceHogs Night on November 16, presented by Corona (of course). Not only will the first 2500 people get a pair of annoying maracas, but the IceHogs will be wearing the above jersey.
It’s like Margarita Night at the local taco joint vomited all over it. I have no idea whether to be insulted by Hammy’s Frito Bandito mustache and sombrero or not.
Of course, what else do you expect from a team that plays in a city that voted Taco Bell their number-one Mexican restaurant?
Speaking of IceHogs news that will make you shake your head, three IceHogs were suspended for this complete shitshow versus the Lake Erie Monsters on November 3:
Andrew Shaw was suspended six games for running from the bench to fight the Monsters’ Patrick Bordeleau after he started beating up on Dylan Olsen. Olsen was suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head. Wade Brookbank was suspended one game for leaving the bench during the altercation.
In better news, Martin St. Pierre was named the IceHogs’ captain. Here is what he had to say about it.
I hope he enjoys what time he has left with the IceHogs, since he will end up traded before the end of the season, because this is what the IceHogs do.
