Francis Wathier scored first for the home team at 1:05 of the first period. Just over three and a half minutes later, Jeremy Morin tied the game up for Rockford with his 23rd goal on the 2013-14 AHL campaign. Less than six minutes later, Morin scored his second goal of the game to put the IceHogs up 2-1.

Mark Van Guilder scored 33 seconds later to knot the game back up at two. Brad Mills tallied his fourth goal of the season at 13:03 to put the visitors back ahead of the Ads. Patrick Cehlin and Vinny Saponari scored 17 seconds apart before the end of the opening frame to put the Ads up 4-3.

Compared to the first period, the second period was very quiet. Joakim Nordstrom scored the lone goal of the sandwich stanza—his 16th marker on the year—to tie the game up at four.

Calle Jarnkrok and Mills traded goals in the third period to leave the game tied at five at the end of regulation.

Overtime featured a scoreless five minutes of hockey, so the game was off to a shootout. Rockford’s three shooters—Nordstrom, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Terry Broadhurst—were not able to convert on their attempts. The Ads were more fortunate; Mathieu Tousignant, Taylor Beck and Vinny Saponari all converted, despite Jarnkrok not being able to score, which gave Milwaukee the 6-5 victory.

-Milwaukee outshot Rockford 39-29.

Jason LaBarbera was in net for the IceHogs.

-The IceHogs went 2-for-5 on the power play while the Admirals went 1-for-4 on their man advantages.

-Defenseman Mathieu Brisebois made his IceHogs debut on Friday night. He picked up an assist on Joakim Nordstrom’s goal and was -1. He is wearing Dylan Olsen’s and Zach Miskovic’s old no. 3.

-The three stars of the game were:  1 — Mathieu Tousignant (3 SOG, 2 PIMs) 2 – Jeremy Morin (2 G, +1, 4 SOG) 3 – Mark Van Guilder (1 G, 1 A, +1, 3 SOG).

-The Rockford scratches were:  Viktor Svedberg (injured), Theo Peckham, Pat Mullane and Jared Nightingale (all healthy).
