Sad/anger-inducing news from around the NHL, which leads to me to declare that next week’s podcast will be full of puppies and rainbows because I CAN’T TAKE THIS SHIT ANYMORE. TWO WEEKS OF SAD NEWS MAKES ME GO INTO CAPS LOCK.
The Line Cocktail for this week is dedicated to this guy:
Good job, kid.
We also forgot a question for this week. Oops. So… maybe you should send us questions for us to answer next week? Think of it as our holiday gift to you, since we’re not going shopping on Black Friday to get you nerds anything. Fuck that.
Stan Bowman‘s two-year extension, and why this is a good thing
Preseason rule/equipment changes
The Chicago Blackhawks held their training camp over the weekend and into Monday with the Training Camp Festival.

The Dan Cleary hot mess that ended with him re-signing with the Red Wings
The Jordan Nolan hit on Rostislav Klesla
Tim Thomas is in Florida, trying out for the Florida Panthers, which means two of Casey’s least favorite things have been combined. (For anyone who lives in Florida and is reading this now — I apologize in advance.)
Nathan Walker is a precious Australian gift to the NHL, and don’t let anyone tell you differently.
Evgeni Malkin is a smart cookie about his answer to “the gay question.”
Louis Leblanc‘s girlfriend yells at the Canadiens for cutting him. Did I mention his girlfriend is Aleksandra Wozniak?
Thanks to everyone who listened and downloaded the podcast last week! I hope you all continue to listen.
The Chicago Blackhawks‘ last two games against the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Western Conference Semi-Finals, and their first two games against the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals.
A rant about NBC Sports Network picking on Patrick Kane, and the “Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane Show” in general.
The other game that happened this week: the Pittsburgh Penguins getting shut out by the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Zdeno Chara is terrifying.
The Line Cocktail for this week gives no fucks.
Discussing last week’s question, including a shocking confession from me.
This week’s question: If the Blackhawks do make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, would you rather see them take on the Penguins or the Bruins, and why?
Our disappointment over not being able to watch the awkwardness that is the NHL Awards
The Chicago Blackhawks‘ Games 3, 4, and 5 against the Detroit Red Wings
The other NHL series that happened this week, including the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ win over the Ottawa Senators, the Boston Bruins‘ win over the New York Rangers, and the Los Angeles Kings/San Jose Sharks series, which is going to Game 7

The first two games of the second round between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings
Viktor Stalberg being scratched for the first two games, and why that was okay by me
The other second-round playoff series, including laughing at the Pittsburgh Penguins getting beat by the Ottawa Senators as we were recording
The other award nominees from the Blackhawks — Joel Quenneville for the Jack Adams Award, and Jonathan Toews for the Selke Trophy — and why neither of them should win
This week’s Line Cocktail is for Dave Bolland.
This week’s question: We are making for-real buttons and pins commemorating Kane’s Lady Byng nomination! Come up with a slogan or design for our button! We’ll send you a free button if we choose your design or slogan.
Lots of this please and thank you / Flickr: the_mel
I suspect that, for most of you, I don’t have to give you any reasons to hate the Blackhawks’ next victim opponents. It’s rather like putting on underpants — it’s necessary, it’s automatic, and if you don’t, you feel pretty damn uncomfortable. But humor me — here are five reasons to hate the Winged Wheel even more than you already do.
The Line Cocktail for this week is sad, like Brandon Bollig being on the top line
Question for this week: Who would you least like to see the Blackhawks take on in the first round? And this doesn’t have to be the team you’re most afraid of in the first round, either. You can have your own reasons for why.

So the Chicago Blackhawks clinched the Central Division title, assuring that they wouldn’t fall any further than third in the standings and also guaranteeing home ice advantage in the first round? And they did this while also doing damage to the Detroit Red Wings‘ playoff hopes?
I couldn’t think of a better goodbye for the Red Wings from the Western Conference, really.
