Because of that last bit, this week’s question is:

  • The Nashville Predators‘ plan to “keep the red out” by trying to keep Blackhawks fans from buying tickets. Yeah, this will end well.

  • Russia continues to piss us off, and now the IOC feels our wrath for this bullshit.

Started from the bottom — now we’re here. (Photo: via deadspin.com)

Casey and I return with a short (for us — it’s still a little over an hour long) Second Balcony Breakdown podcast. We were exhausted by our busy weekends, so please excuse our ramblings.

Topics include:

  • Patrick Kane being nominated for the Lady Byng Trophy, which is hilarious to the both of us
  • The first two games of the second round between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings
  • Viktor Stalberg being scratched for the first two games, and why that was okay by me
  • The other second-round playoff series, including laughing at the Pittsburgh Penguins getting beat by the Ottawa Senators as we were recording
  • The other award nominees from the Blackhawks — Joel Quenneville for the Jack Adams Award, and Jonathan Toews for the Selke Trophy — and why neither of them should win
  • This week’s Line Cocktail is for Dave Bolland.
  • This week’s question: We are making for-real buttons and pins commemorating Kane’s Lady Byng nomination! Come up with a slogan or design for our button! We’ll send you a free button if we choose your design or slogan.

The Return Of Sharp: Blackhawks @ Minnesota Wild Preview

He's back. (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

He’s back. (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Minnesota Wild tonight at 7:00pm.

Let’s just go over the parts you care about:

  • Patrick Sharp rejoins the lineup. You’ve probably missed his handsome visage in the lineup as much as I have.
  • Ray Emery is in net, because coach Joel Quenneville can’t end one year without some sort of self-imposed “goaltender controversy.”
  • This is the last time the Blackhawks will meet the Wild before they are thrown together in Division Zzzzz… I mean, Division C (please let the NHL come up with a better name for this) next season.

Let’s do this shit.

I guess I’m supposed to write about how the Chicago Blackhawks finally got THEIR REVENGE!!1!one! on the Colorado Avalanche for ending The Streak, but really — it’s the Avs. The Blackhawks are fully rested. There was no doubt that the Blackhawks couldn’t get it done tonight.

So, instead of being a revenge game, it was more like this:
