JONATHAN TOEWS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, HIGH VIBE, BEST HOCKEY PLAYER IN THE WORLD

Casey and I recorded this edition of Second Balcony Breakdown yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, the Chicago Blackhawks haven’t done anything since then, so this is still accurate.

  • The Bick’s Pits calendar! It’s on sale RIGHT NOW! Here’s the link: http://www.bickellfoundation.org/#!CALENDAR/c81x/ Go buy it, because Blackhawks and puppies! And it’s for a good cause!
  • Also, here’s Kiki, who I talk about at length during the Bick’s Pits calendar discussion. She needs a home! Contact Recycled.Pits@gmail.com to find out how to do that.
Yes, I've already emailed them about her. But if I can't have her, someone else should!

  • My trip to Columbus to see the Columbus Blue Jackets take on the Detroit Red Wings
  • Questions from the audience! We discuss the state of Casey’s fridge, what will happen to Patrick Sharp when he returns from injury, and how Jonathan Toews is kind of a hippie, among other things.
  • Reading this aloud is about where this podcast broke down.
  • This week’s Line Cocktail is actually a real thing, terrifyingly enough, and is dedicated to the Kane-Richards-Versteeg line.
  • Question for this week: What kind of pet would Patrick Kane have, since he might be allergic to dogs?

Five Reasons To Hate The Los Angeles Kings

A week ago, this article nearly became “Five Reasons to Hate the Chicago Blackhawks” after they went down 3-1 in the their series with the Red Wings. Trust me — I actually attended game four in person at the Joe, and I was so despondent, I nearly wanted to live in Detroit. But alas, someone must have reminded the Hawks that if they’d lost the series they’d have to watch Chicago baseball (shudder). They did us all a favor to spare the city from that fate for another two weeks at least.

The Quiet Room: We Had A Lot Of Feelings This Week

Until we get a logo, you get a picture of Patrick Sharp. (Photo: David Kindler/flickr)

This week’s The Quiet Room with Casey and Kat is our longest one yet (over an hour!), since we had a lot of feelings on last week’s games. Topics include:

  • Last week’s Chicago Blackhawks games against the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings
  • Other games around the NHL, including the San Jose Sharks/Columbus Blue Jackets game (hahaha)
  • Broadcast teams around the league, and why Chicago is spoiled in that regard despite our snark on Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk
  • Why Brandon Bollig is useless (this seems to be a recurring theme)
  • This week’s Line Cocktail, which is illegal in most states
  • This week’s question: Do you think that coaches discourage staged fights during nationally televised games? Why or why not?
  • Alternate question: This podcast needs a new name, since The Quiet Room is already in use by another podcast. Give us a new name.

Click the button below to listen. Hopefully, the sound quality will improve by next week.
